Church of St. John the Baptist at Okewood Hill
29th March 2007

Okewood church was built in c. 1220 as a chapel of ease to Wooton church. It contined in use until 1547 when, mistaken for a chantry chapel, it was siezed by the crown and sold. It was disused until 1553, when Queen Elizabeth decreed that it be reopened. It gained parish church status in 1853 with the formation of Okewood Civil Parish.
